As the Vice Chair of the Rogers Memorial Hospital Foundation board, I am far more blessed by what I have gained through this commitment than by what we have provided in patient grants over the years. I have been touched through family, friends and other loved ones who have been affected by mental health disease and addiction my entire life. It is not only important for me to understand what mental health services are available to patients and their families but also to bring awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. The hospital foundation gives hope for families who are unable to provide the appropriate amount of treatment for their loved one. Throughout our Spiritual Care program and extended care grants, patients are given a glimmer of light in an extraordinarily dark time in their lives. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve and witness the greatness of world class board members, physicians, patients and their families everywhere.
