Craig’s Full Circle

Today, Craig is a small business owner, dog lover, and strong advocate for mental health. Just a few years ago, however, at the age of 51, he took what he calls “the scariest thing I have ever done in my life” and entered Rogers Behavioral Health’s inpatient program.

This leap of faith became a turning point for Craig. “I suffered in silence for many years until finally, in 2022, my amazing wife Amy found Rogers.” For 47 days, Craig immersed himself in the hard work of therapy and treatment. “I literally came home a NEW man!”

Since his time at Rogers, Craig continues to nurture the skills and tools he learned at Rogers.

“I continue to see therapists on a weekly basis and follow the drug regimen that we implemented in the program. I will always deal with some level of issues, but Rogers has changed my life forever!”

Craig’s journey also opened the door to a creative new business venture. In the fall of 2022, Craig and Amy launched LuLu London, a dog bandana company inspired by their beloved pup, London. What began online and at local markets soon grew into retail outlets and community partnerships. Last year, LuLu London was honored to partner with OCD Iowa to design the bandana for their “Million Steps Walk.”

This passion came full circle when Craig learned about Rogers’ own facility dog, Kobe

“It just seemed to me that this was meant to be. I found relief at Rogers, and as a result of finding my happy place again, Amy and I started making dog bandanas. Then, I find out that Rogers has a support dog. Here is my chance to give back!”

This November, Craig will join Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation’s Celebrate the Light Gala to debut a custom Celebrate the Light-themed bandana designed just for Kobe. Guests will also have the opportunity to take home the ever-popular Kobe plushie, complete with its own limited-edition bandana. All proceeds from plushie sales will directly support Kobe and the Canine Assisted Intervention program at Rogers.

What started as a leap of faith has now come full circle in ways Craig never imagined. To hear him share his story in his own words, watch his YouTube video here. You can also explore Craig and Amy’s handmade designs by visiting their online store, LuLu London | dog bandanas.
